I would like very much to call a lady. She told her local marriage agency does not allow her to write her telephone number in a letter to me.
We DO allow Ukrainian brides exchanging phone numbers and postal addresses in the letters to foreign men, but only after a man and a girl have written to each other 5 letters.

I receive many messages from you and your clients but they are all generic. Do you send out letters to men that were not written especial for the person to whom they are addressed?
It is the standard procedure for both foreign men and Ukrainian women, when beginning correspondence, to list a brief description of themselves in an online catalog and post a photo into the profile, and then write a personable, but rather general "introductory letter" where they describe themselves and their life in more details, tell what they are looking for in a mate, etc. The foreign men and Ukrainian women both address these letters to each person they are sending it to and they personalize them to a small degree; they are general letters, in which foreign men/ Ukrainian women trying to give more information than is listed in the brief on-line posting. The purpose of an introduction letter is to 1. let the person know you are interested in her/him and 2. tell more about yourself. Men send copies of their introductory letters to many Ukrainian women, and Ukrainian women send copies of their introductory letters to many foreign men. Once both people know they are interested in each other and have a better idea of who they are dealing with, then they begin personal correspondence. If you have your ad published in the Gentlemen's Catalog you will certainly get letters from Ukrainian girls who liked you and decided to initiate correspondence with you. If you receive such "introductory letter" from a woman - it is her way of showing interest in you. To read it - if you liked woman's photo and profile - will cost you ONLY 0.15 BRIDIK.

Also, is it possible to exchange e-mail directly with the ladies as I would like to receive their additional photos and I cannot unless they e-mail directly.
Sorry, we don't allow foreign men and Ukrainian women to exchange direct e-mail addresses while they correspond using our e-mail forwarding system. BUT you can exchange phone numbers and ask for woman's e-mail address during the phone conversation. As for additional photos, you can exchange them through our web-site as well - we can forward additional photos of Ukrainian women to foreign men and vice versa. To send or receive every additional photo costs 0.5 BRIDIK. If it is you who send photo, the woman gets it printed with your last letter to her. If it is your Ukrainian bride who wants to send you some additional photos, the girl brings her additional pictures to the agency, the Ukrainian woman's local agency scans her additional photos, and you get them attached to the woman's reply to your letter. Note, that you can choose to open all attached files, or only one or two, and then return later to open other additional photos attached to the girl's letter.

Where do I send and receive my e-mails?
You may send email messages from Army-of-Brides.com while you are browsing Ukrainian women photo catalog by clicking on the "E-mail me now" link in the Ukrainian woman's profile. When a Ukrainian woman sends you a letter, it arrives in your Inbox on the site and the server automatically sends notification about a new letter from Ukrainian woman to the email address you used when you registered. You then go to your mailbox at Army-of-Brides where you can see a list of all incoming e-mails from Ukrainian women. Each e-mail will be accompanied by the Ukrainian woman's photo (icon) and short information; by clicking the icon or "view biodata" link you can view profile and bigger sized photos of the Ukrainian woman you chose. After reading the profile and seeing pictures you can decide whether or not you want to to open a letter from this Ukrainian girl and find out more about her. You are not charged for messages you do not open.

Do I have to open all of my incoming e-mails on Army-of-Brides?
Absolutely not. Before opening a letter you are able to view Ukrainian woman's profile with bigger sized photos and decide whether you like this Ukrainian woman and want to get to know her better. Only if you are potentially interested in this Ukrainian bride (note, she is interested in you after viewing your profile) you should open a letter of introduction from this girl.

Do I have to reply to all messages? If I do not reply will women know that I am not interested?
You do not have to reply to all messages from Ukrainian women. If you do not reply to the Ukrainian woman, she would understand that you are not interested. When a Ukrainian woman sends her letter of introduction to one or several foreign men she knows that not all of them would reply to her, the same as she doesn't reply to all foreign men who try to get in contact with her.

What about if a woman that I wrote doesn't want to have correspondence with me? Do I loose a BRIDIK? In this case do you inform me?
Yes, you do lose a BRIDIK for the letter you send. If you are not sure that you will get a positive reply from a woman you like, we would advise you to use an option QUERY. A QUERY is a much smaller monetary risk for you than a letter, a QUERY costs 4 times less than a letter. When a woman receives such a QUERY from a man, she reviews his profile and says whether it would be interested for her to correspond with the man and learn more about him.

Can I send a photo attached with my e-mail?
Yes, you can attach photos to the letters you send to Ukrainian women using our e-mail forwarding system. To forward 1 photo costs 0.5 BRIDIK. The girl can send you her additional photos as well; it is the same 0.5 of a BRIDIK for opening each additional photo from a girl.

    To top^

Are my e-mails translated for the lady?
All the emails you send to Ukrainian women are translated into Ukrainian or Russian if the woman needs translation, all letters from Ukrainian girls to you are translated into English. There is no additional charge to you or the Ukrainian women for this complimentary service, the cost of the translation it is included into the price of 1 BRIDIK for each letter you send or receive.

    To top^

What about the privacy of my messages?
The marriage agency personnel who translate your correspondence will not know your identity, and in some cases will not know the lady's identity either. Besides, our translators are industry professionals, accustomed to assisting in communications of the most intimate nature.

Do you allow direct contact information exchange in letters?
Yes, you can send/ receive postal address and telephone number of any Ukrainian woman in letters through our e-mail forwarding system after you and a woman have written 5 letters each. But we do not allow to exchange e-mail addresses.

Can I send my email address to a lady through a letter, so she can answer me back privately?
Sorry, no. You can ask a Ukrainian bride for the phone number and then exchange e-mail addresses during your telephone conversation. You and a woman can exchange direct contact information after you have sent her 5 letters and received 5 replies back.

How do the girls get the mail from me? Does a representative phone them, mail a copy or how?
You send your e-mail to a chosen Ukrainian woman, and your e-mail message is received in our affiliates marriage agency of the woman's native city. Our interpreters translate your message into lady's native language (Ukrainian, Russian, or other) and the manager informs the woman on the phone that a message is waiting for her. If you contact a Ukrainian woman for the first time together with your letter she receives your profile information and photo you have in your ad in on-line Gentlemen Catalog. When your Ukrainian bride receives your letter - women usually prefer to come to the office to pick their letters up - the woman is able to write a response immediately in her local marriage agency's office if she prefers, or she may think it over at home and then bring her reply (when she's ready) to her agency to translate and forward woman's reply to you. Sometimes your letters can be read to the Ukrainian girl on the phone, so she would start thinking about her answer to you. Some local agencies aiming at making the correspondence go faster also receive women's replies on the phone - a Ukrainian woman dictates her reply, and the agency manager types/ writes it down.

When I open a letter and read it I am charged a bridik. Ok, but if I close it to answer it later am I charged again for the same letter?
Never. If you opened a letter once, the status of the letter is changed to "opened" and you will be never charged for reading it again. But, it is possible that an operator at the local marriage agency has sent you the same letter twice - do not forget that there work live people and mistakes can happen - in this case do not hesitate to contact us, we will refund you BRIDIKs you spent on reading duplicate letters.

When I write a letter I get a message, letter not sent. It also says to contact administrator at army of brides. Okay, what does that mean. I have plenty of bridiks.
The system doesn't allow you to send a a new letter to the same woman within 2 minutes after you sent your first letter to her - this is the way we try to save you from sending duplicates letters. But if you want to be sure whether your Ukrainian bride has received your letter you can contact us and we will confirm that your letter has been received. Another way to get sure your letter was sent is to check your "sent mail" (there you should see the letter you just sent) and "payment history" (1 BRIDIK should be deducted for sending of a letter)

    To top^

I would like to know if there is a limit to the number of words or characters allowed when emailing a lady for the cost of one BRIDIK?
For 1 BRIDIK you can send a letter up to 10000 symbols long (approximately three sheets of paper when the letter is printed), every 100 symbols over 10000 cost 0.02 of a BRIDIK. If your letter exceeds this number of characters, you will be asked whether you want to pay extra or make your letter shorter.

    To top^

I tried sending a letter but it does not show in my out box or that my account has decrease by 1 BRIDIK.
If the letter is not in your "sent mail" and your payment history has no records about this letter, it means the letter was not sent. Possible problems: there was something wrong with the server right at the moment you sent the letter, or your letter was too long. Though we have a limit of 10000 characters for each letter sent by a man, we have faced the following problem: our client tries to send a letter or part of his letter in Cyrillic, and due to the settings for the encoding each Cyrillic letter acquires several digits code, which make 1 Cyrillic letter 7 characters. So, the letter becomes too long (about 7 times longer); and letters of more than 10000 characters limit can't be sent. We advise you to send your letters in English, but if you want to surprise your Ukrainian bride with your knowledge of the language, please, send your letter as attached .doc file through Support Center, do not forget to mention ID and name of the woman your letter is for, we will register the letter manually and forward your letter in a readable format to respective local marriage agency to deliver it to your Ukrainian bride.

For the longest time it seems like I am being deducted 2 credits for each letter I send, when it should be one?
It is not possible - the system works automatically, BRIDIKs are deducted automatically for each letter you read and each letter you send. Besides, every letter you send or read is recorded in your payment history. If you still have doubts that you were charged twice for the same letter, please, contact us - we will check and refund you BRIDIKs in case you were charged for duplicate letters.

Does the lady type her own letter to me using your equipment? I received a letter addressed to a different man, signed by another woman, and by content of the letter I see it was not a reply to my letter.
No, ladies do not type their messages themselves, they usually bring hand-written letters (or dictate their letters on the phone - some local marriage agencies try to make the process of correspondence faster), our staff translates and types the messages, then the messages are sent to men through specially designed working terminal for local marriage agencies. It is quite possible you have received completely different letter - from a different Ukrainian woman to a different foreign man. We will contact the local agency regarding this problem, you will get 1 BRIDIK refund so you could read the "right" letter.

I am very happy with all the messages coming from so many wonderful ladies and their replies to my letters. As is to be expected however, I do not care to respond to all of them. My question is how I can send a "no thanks" message without opening their letters? Do I have to pay the 0.15 BRIDIKs to open the letter if I'm going to reject it, and is there a charge for sending the "no thanks" message? I would like to at least acknowledge the ladies inquiries so they are not left wondering if their message was received.
You should know that all messages are sent by ladies with the help of one of the agency staff (the agency translates, types the letter and sends to the men whom ladies choose). The agency can any time view the status of the letter (whether it was opened by the man or not). Women know that foreign men have to pay for reading letters and that if a Ukrainian women does not get a reply from a man it means a man says "no". So, you shouldn't worry that you are being impolite. If you are going to reject a letter after seeing woman's profile, you just delete it without reading, and do not spend 0.15 of a BRIDIK on reading a letter from a Ukrainian girl that is potentially not interesting for you. We could offer our clients a "no thanks" option, so that a "no thanks" messages would be automatically sent to local marriage agencies, but in this case local agencies would be overwhelmed with such notes, which would distract their attention from letters.

I was wondering how the translations are made for the ladies and me. Are the letters translated by computer, or are they translated by insightful human translators, or maybe some combination of both? I'm curious because I read that computer translations are very rough and don't have the same flow as the original letter. This has been my experience using translator programs.
It is our rule that all agencies who work with us should use "human translation" to translate all letters. You are right about computer translations - they are "word by word" translations, the program takes the first meaning of the word from a dictionary, which sometimes makes a sentence senseless (especially if we take into consideration the word-order and different grammar structures in Ukrainian, Russian and English).

Can you tell me if this letter was made generics, standard, like they never were written specially for me, and if she didn't decide to write to me, who or how?
Generic is only a first letter the girl sends to you - it is her letter of introduction, she writes about herself, trying to attract interest of the "potential foreign husband". The introductory letter is translated into English. When girl's profile is available, she comes to the agency, and together with one of the agency's staff browses profiles in Gentlemen's catalog and tells to which foreign men we should send this letter. On this stage she is "potentially" interested in you - your age is ok with her, she likes your photo, some info from your profile interested her, so she wants to get acquainted and see what will develop. When you reply, a Ukrainian bride receives your translated letter, profile and photo printed, learns more about you and the reply is written specially for you.

How can you assure me and other men that if we write several ladies in one city, our private letters will not be shown to various ladies who may know each other.
We can promise that the agency staff will not tell the girls that they get letters from the same men - first of all we understand that men and women want to keep their relations in private, and also because our financial profit depends on number of letters foreign men send to Ukrainian women - the more letters men write the more our profit is. If we tell our Ukrainian girl that this man writes to every single Ukrainian woman of our agency, girls will not reply to such man, and we will lose our profit. But we can't make sure that the Ukrainian girls do not share information about the letters they get themselves: often girls bring their friends to the agency to search for a foreign man, we have sisters as our clients, and of course we can't forbid them to share the experience of communicating with this or that man.

How does the International Marriage Broker Regulation Act of 2005 in the USA affect your services on correspondence?
International Marriage Broker Regulation Act of 2005 imposes restrictions on communication between our women-clients and foreign men: according to the new Law there should not be any contact between a foreign woman (a client of the marriage agency) and a man from the United Sates before the man disclosed, and the woman read US client's background information, such as marital history, information about children, arrests or convictions. The marriage agency is the party that is responsible for collecting of this information from the US client and passing it to the women client in her native language. There are civil and criminal penalties on the broker for violations of this Law. But, this is the Law of the USA and it applies to US companies owned and operated in the USA, (even if they have a matchmaker subsidiary or sub-division abroad.) It would likely be very difficult to enforce this law on a non-US company. Since our agency is officially registered in Ukraine, the penalties by this Law can't be imposed on us, thus we continue delivering our services the way we did it, we do not forbid US clients to exchange direct contact information with the women. BUT: what is more important is how non-compliance with this Law could affect your bride's chances to get Fiancee Visa: if in the beginning of your contact the woman did not have all this information, it is possible that she will NOT get her Fiancee Visa. We strongly recommend you to consult your lawyer regarding the provisions of International Marriage Broker Regulation Act of 2005.
